Returned to the property to meter materials and check the existing dehumidifier setup in the basement following a water loss caused by a frozen water pipe. Upon arrival, basement ambient temperature was measured at approximately 44 degrees Fahrenheit, which is below the effective operating range for standard dehumidification equipment. Space heaters were observed running in the upper levels of the home; however, the home’s main furnace was not operational at the time of inspection. The homeowner advised that the existing dehumidifier and multiple space heaters had been tripping electrical breakers, limiting the ability to add additional drying equipment. Due to the low temperature conditions and electrical limitations, placement of a second dehumidifier at this time would be ineffective and potentially unsafe. Moisture readings were documented, and drying logs were completed accordingly. The homeowner was informed of the current limitations and advised that conditions would be reassessed once proper heat and electrical capacity are restored, with a probable return visit scheduled for the following day to further evaluate drying progress and determine next steps.
