HOLIDAY FIRE HAZARDS

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, and are just as excited for the holidays as we are! Did you know the winter holiday season is one of the most common times for fire risk? While all the cooking and decorations create a beautiful atmosphere, they are the leading causes of fires between December and January.

Holiday Fire Facts from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA):
  • Thanksgiving Day is the leading date of home cooking fires, followed by Christmas Day and Christmas Eve.
  • Throughout the year, one-third of home decor fires are started by candles. This rises to almost half in December with candles starting 46% of decoration fires. Cooking started 19% of decoration fires.
  • Between 2017 and 2021, US Fire Departments responded to 150 fires that were started by Christmas trees, on average.
  • 30% of Christmas tree fires happen in January, as the trees dry out and become more flammable.

But we know that even with the most diligent precautions, accidents and disaster can happen in a flash, and we will be there for you in the aftermath. From initial assessments to caring for salvageable possessions and all the way to dealing with any insurance companies, we are your one stop shop for post-disaster relief.
