Today, a water loss was reported,  An extraction van was brought to address water in the basement bedroom caused by a broken water line located on the upper floor near the kitchen island. Upon arrival, standing water was extracted from the basement bedroom. Wet carpet and pad were removed, along with affected baseboards and trim. At the time of inspection, all walls in the bedroom were reading wet. The entire ceiling was identified as requiring removal, and the carpet would most likely need full replacement unless a suitable match could be found for the remaining basement flooring.

Drying equipment was deployed, including five air movers, two dehumidifiers, and one air scrubber. The homeowner was cooperative and understanding of the situation and stated she has unfortunately experienced similar losses in the past.

Demolition work was initiated the same day. Containment was set up in the affected bedroom, and carbon shielding was installed along walkways to protect unaffected areas. Affected drywall was removed from the bedroom ceiling, along with a small portion of wet batt insulation. All carpet in the bedroom was fully removed. The area was cleaned, and drying equipment was reset. Drying mats were also installed on the kitchen floor in front of the island. A debris dump run was completed.

Dry logs were initiated for the dehumidifier located in the kitchen and for the dehumidifier and air movers placed in the lower-level bedroom. Initial temperature and humidity readings were established and logged in the Encircle app. Due to technical issues connecting the Docusketch camera to the iPhone, the scan could not be completed and was rescheduled for 01/21/26. The homeowner was informed of the return visit and confirmed that pets would be secured to allow for documentation. The homeowner also asked questions regarding the status of the insurance claim.

On the return visit, Docusketch documentation was completed for both the main floor and lower level, dry logs were updated, and equipment was checked. Upon arrival, the kitchen dehumidifier was found powered off, while floor mat dryers were still operating. The homeowner reported that running all dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and air movers simultaneously was causing breaker trips. Moisture readings were taken for all dehumidifiers, and an additional dry log was started. Docusketch documentation was successfully completed and uploaded.

A final visit was made to meter affected areas and remove equipment if drying goals were met. The lower-level bedroom—where the ceiling had been demolished and carpet removed was found to be dry after continuous operation of one dehumidifier, one air scrubber, and five air movers since 01/19/26. The main floor kitchen drying mats had been running since 01/20/26; flooring was dry with no visible warping noted in the engineered hardwood. All equipment was collected from both areas, and work was completed.
